一个女孩如此拭杀父母的事是真实存在的。1893年美国的麻萨诸塞州，32岁的里兹·波顿在家中拿起斧头杀害了自己的父亲和继母，手段残忍。在19世纪的美国引起轩然大波。如今事发的那间屋子成为了博物馆，而里兹杀人事件到现在还是研究的对象，还被拍成电影等。在网上可以找到不少相关的资料。

此首「谁杀了知更鸟」也有人翻做「知更鸟之死」，是鹅妈妈童谣中相当著名的一首，国外的鹅妈妈童谣集一般皆会收录，但来到国内，国内出版的鹅妈妈童谣集几乎不会收录这首「Who killed led Cock Robin？」。此首歌旋律轻快且优美，也是许多英国小孩朗朗上口的一首童谣。
「Who killed led Cock Robin？」内容描述知更鸟（Cock Robin）原本被天上所有的鸟儿喜爱，最后却在小鸟审判（bird assizes）中死亡的故事。看似荒诞的童话故事，尤其是最后”下回的受审者”竟然是童谣一开始杀了知更鸟的麻雀，杀人者亦会受到审判，使得这首童谣更添加了因果循环的深层含意。
也有不少的推理小说或推理漫画喜欢引用这首「Who killed led Cock Robin？」，如 S。S。范达因在 1928 年出版的著名推理小说“The Bishop Murder Case”（中译为主教杀人事件）中即引用了这首与其余两首鹅妈妈童谣

世上留传著许多关于亚瑟王的精彩故事，以及英勇的圆桌武士的传奇。他大约是在一千五百年前统治英国，打了许多场胜仗。但历史上是否存在这位王还有待查证。这首关于亚瑟王的童谣揭示了古代王族中的残忍吧。

这个算是《God Child》里的一个特别短篇。把人的一生所会经历到的事融汇在这个短短的童谣里——一个星期里的7天。

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall。
All the king's horses；
And all the king's men；
Couldn't put Humpty together again。
蛋在断崖上孵化，
孵着孵着掉下来了。
就算聚集了国王所有的马，
就算聚集了国王所有的臣子，
蛋也不能恢复原来的样子 。

Humpty…dumpty是蛋的意思。字典里解释为胖矮人。

此首童谣很明显的描述一名精神失常的男子，他与他身边的事物皆是「扭曲」的，歌词描述的十分贴近现实精神疾病患者的模样，以第三人称的角度，来看待他的生活与身边的事物，以「扭曲」代表与正常人生活相反的一面。
在黑暗的时代中，压力过大以致于精神失常或发疯的人不在少数，以现代来说，患有精神疾病的人其实也不少，他们的生活是「扭曲」的，在我们的眼里看起来他们也是「扭曲」的一群人，所以用「crook」（扭曲）来连贯这整首歌词是非常贴切的。

在最早的时候，最后一句是：什么都没有给小男孩。童谣里“master”指的是国王，“dame”指的是贵族，“little boy”即是最底层的平民。揭示了上流社会的有钱人对底层人的压迫和榨取。

Sing a song of sixpence；
A pocket full of rye；
Four and twenty blackbirds；
Baked in a pie。

这首童谣大约是17世纪中叶在民间出现，但在更早些时候似乎就有了迹象，在莎士比亚的《第12夜》中有这样的一句话：e on； there is sixpence for you； let's have a song。 1614年，在包蒙（Beaumont 1584…1616）和佛勒契（John Fletcher 1579…1625）合作的一部作品中有这样的一句：Whoa； here's a stir now！ Sing a song of sixpence！在这首童谣中，皇帝指的是英国都铎王朝的第二代国王亨利八世（HenryⅧ；1509…1547），他的残暴乖戾在历代君主中是很突出的，拥有6位妻子并处决了2位而闻名。童谣中的女王指的是凯瑟琳（Catherine of Aragon），她是西班牙阿拉贡国王斐迪南二世的女儿，曾经是亨利七世的妻子，亨利八世的第一任妻子，但是由于她没有为亨利生下皇子，渐渐导致亨利对她的冷淡，但又由于教会的原因使之迟迟不能废后。“皇后在大厅里吃着面包和�
