12：16以后百姓从哈洗录起行，在巴兰的旷野安营。
And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth； and pitched in the wilderness of Paran。

13：1耶和华晓谕摩西说，
And the LORD spake unto Moses； saying；
13：2你打发人去窥探我所赐给以色列人的迦南地，他们每支派中要打发一个人，都要作首领的。
Send thou men； that they may search the land of Canaan； which I give unto the children of Israel： of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man； every one a ruler among them。
13：3摩西就照耶和华的吩咐从巴兰的旷野打发他们去。他们都是以色列人的族长。
And Moses by the mandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran： all those men were heads of the children of Israel。
13：4他们的名字，属流便支派的有撒刻的的儿子沙母亚。
And these were their names： of the tribe of Reuben； Shammua the son of Zaccur。
13：5属西缅支派的有何利的儿子的沙法。
Of the tribe of Simeon； Shaphat the son of Hori。
13：6属犹大支派的有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒。
Of the tribe of Judah； Caleb the son of Jephunneh。
13：7属以萨迦支派的有约色的儿子以迦。
Of the tribe of Issachar； Igal the son of Joseph。
13：8属以法莲支派的有嫩的儿子何希阿。
Of the tribe of Ephraim； Oshea the son of Nun。
13：9属便雅悯支派的有拉孚的儿子帕提。
Of the tribe of Benjamin； Palti the son of Raphu。
13：10属西布伦支派的有梭底的儿子迦叠。
Of the tribe of Zebulun； Gaddiel the son of Sodi。
13：11约瑟的子孙，属玛拿西支派的有稣西的儿子迦底。
Of the tribe of Joseph； namely； of the tribe of Manasseh； Gaddi the son of Susi。
13：12属但支派的有基玛利的儿子亚米利。
Of the tribe of Dan； Ammiel the son of Gemalli。
13：13属亚设支派的有米迦勒的儿子西帖。
Of the tribe of Asher； Sethur the son of Michael。
13：14属拿弗他利支派的有缚西的儿子拿比。
Of the tribe of Naphtali； Nahbi the son of Vophsi。
13：15属迦得支派的有玛基的儿子臼利。
Of the tribe of Gad； Geuel the son of Machi。
13：16这就是摩西所打发，窥探那地之人的名字。摩西就称嫩的儿子何希阿为约书亚。
These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land。 And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua。
13：17摩西打发他们去窥探迦南地，说，你们从南地上山地去，
And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan； and said unto them； Get you up this way southward； and go up into the mountain：
13：18看那地如何，其中所住的民是强是弱，是多是少，
And see the land； what it is； and the people that dwelleth therein； whether they be strong or weak； few or many；
13：19所住之处是好是歹，所住之处是营盘是坚城。
And what the land is that they dwell in； whether it be good or bad； and what cities they be that they dwell in； whether in tents； or in strong holds；
13：20又看那地土是肥美是瘠薄，其中有树木没有。你们要放开胆量，把那地的果子带些来。（那时正是葡萄初熟的时候。）
And what the land is； whether it be fat or lean； whether there be wood therein； or not。 And be ye of good courage； and bring of the fruit of the land。 Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes。
13：21他们上去窥探那地，从寻的旷野到利合，直到哈马口。
So they went up； and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob； as men e to Hamath。
13：22他们从南地上去，到了希伯仑。在那里有亚衲族人亚希幔，示筛，挞买。原来希伯仑城被建造比埃及的锁安城早七年。）
And they ascended by the south； and came unto Hebron； where Ahiman； Sheshai； and Talmai； the children of Anak； were。 （Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt。）
13：23他们到了以实各谷，从那里砍了葡萄树的一枝，上头有一挂葡萄，两个人用杠抬着，又带了些石榴和无花果来。
And they came unto the brook of Eshcol； and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes； and they bare it between two upon a staff； and they brought of the pomegranates； and of the figs。
13：24因为以色列人从那里砍来的那挂葡萄，所以那地方叫作以实各谷。）
The place was called the brook Eshcol； because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence。
13：25过了四十天，他们窥探那地才回来，
And they returned from searching of the land after forty days。
13：26到了巴兰旷野的加低斯，见摩西，亚伦，并以色列的全会众，回报摩西，亚伦，并全会众，又把那地的果子给他们看。
And they went and came to Moses； and to Aaron； and to all the congregation of the children of Israel； unto the wilderness of Paran； to Kadesh； and brought back word unto them； and unto all the congregation； and shewed them the fruit of the land。
13：27又告诉摩西说，我们到了你所打发我们去的那地，果然是流奶与蜜之地。这就是那地的果子。
And they told him； and said； We came unto the land whither thou sentest us； and surely it floweth with milk and honey； and this is the fruit of it。
13：28然而住那地的民强壮，城邑也坚固宽大，并且我们在那里看见了亚衲族的人。
Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land； and the cities are walled； and very great： and moreover we saw the children of Anak there。
13：29亚玛力人住在南地。赫人，耶布斯人，亚摩利人住在山地。迦南人住在海边并约旦河旁。
The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south： and the Hittites； and the Jebusites； and the Amorites； dwell in the mountains： and the Canaanites dwell by the sea； and by the coast of Jordan。
13：30迦勒在摩西面前安抚百姓，说，我们立刻上去得那地吧。我们足能得胜。
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses； and said； Let us go up at once； and possess it； for we are well able to overe it。
13：31但那些和他同去的人说，我们不能上去攻击那民，因为他们比我们强壮。
But the men that went up with him said； We be not able to go up against the people； for they are stronger than we。
13：32探子中有人论到所窥探之地，向以色列人报恶信，说，我们所窥探，经过之地是吞吃居民之地，我们在那里所看见的人民都身量高大。
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel； saying； The land； through which we have gone to search it； is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof； and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature。
13：33我们在那里看见亚衲族人，就是伟人。他们是伟人的后裔。据我们看，自己就如蚱蜢一样。据他们看，我们也是如此。
And there we saw the giants； the sons of Anak； which e of the giants： and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers； and so we were in their sight。

14：1当下，全会众大声喧囔。那夜百姓都哭号。
And all the congregation lifted up their voice； and cried； and the people wept that night。
14：2以色列众人向摩西，亚伦发怨言。全会众对他们说，巴不得我们早死在埃及地，或是死在这旷野。
And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron： and the whole congregation said unto them； Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt！ or would God we had died in this wilderness！
14：3耶和华为什么把我们领到那地，使我们倒在刀下呢，我们的妻子和孩子必被掳掠。我们回埃及去岂不好吗，
And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land； to fall by the sword； that our wives and our children should be a prey？ were it not better for us to return into Egypt？
14：4众人彼此说，我们不如立一个首领回埃及去吧。
And they said one to another； Let us make a captain； and let us return into Egypt。
14：5摩西，亚伦就俯伏在以色列全会众面前。
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel。
14：6窥探地的人中，嫩的儿子约书亚和耶孚尼的儿子迦勒撕裂衣服，
And Joshua the son of Nun； and Caleb the son of Jephunneh； which were of them that searched the land； rent their clothes：
14：7对以色列全会众说，我们所窥探，经过之地是极美之地。
And they spake unto all the pany of the children of Israel； saying； The land； which we passed through to search it； is an exceeding good land。
14：8耶和华若喜悦我们，就必将我们领进那地，把地赐给我们。那地原是流奶与蜜之地。
If the LORD delight in us； then he will bring us into this land； and give it us； a land which floweth with milk and honey。
14：9但你们不可背叛耶和华，也不要怕那地的居民。因为他们是我们的食物，并且荫庇他们的已经离开他们。有耶和华与我们同在，不要怕他们。
Only rebel not ye against the LORD； neither fear ye the people of the land； for they are bread for us： their defence is departed from them； and the LORD is with us： fear them not。
14：10但全会众说，拿石头打死他们二人。忽然，耶和华的荣光在会幕中向以色列众人显现。
But all the congregation bade stone them with stones。 And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel。
14：11耶和华对摩西说，这百姓藐视我要到几时呢，我在他们中间行了这一切神迹，他们还不信我要到几时呢，
And the LORD said unto Moses； How long will this people provoke me？ and how long will it be ere they believe me； for all the signs which I have shewed among them？
14：12我要用瘟疫击杀他们，使他们不得承受那地，叫你的后裔成为大国，比他们强胜。
I will smite them with the pestilence； and disinherit them； and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they。
14：13摩西对耶和华说，埃及人必听见这事。因为你曾施展大能，将这百姓从他们中间领上来。
And Moses said unto the LORD； Then the Egyptians shall hear it； （for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them；）
14：14埃及人要将这事传给迦南地的居民。那民已经听见你耶和华是在这百姓中间。因为你面对面被人看见，有你的云彩停在他们以上。你日间在云柱中，夜间在火柱中，在他们前面行。
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land： for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people； that thou LORD art seen face to face； and that thy cloud standeth over them； and that thou goest before them； by day time in a pillar of a cloud； and in a pillar of fire by night。
14：15如今你若把这百姓杀了，如杀一人，那些听见你名声的列邦必议论说，
Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man； then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak； saying；
14：16耶和华因为不能把这百姓领进他向他们起誓应许之地，所以在旷野把他们杀了。
Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them； therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness。
14：17现在求主大显能力，照你所说过的话说，
And now； I beseech thee； let the power of my LORD be great； according as thou hast spoken； saying；
14：18耶和华不轻易发怒，并有丰盛的慈爱，赦免罪孽和过犯。万不以有罪的为无罪，必追讨他的罪，自父及子，直到三，四代。
The LORD is longsuffering； and of great mercy； forgiving iniquity and transgression； and by no means clearing the guilty； visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation。
14：19求你照你的大慈爱赦免这百姓的罪孽，好像你从埃及到如今常赦免他们一样。
Pardon； I beseech thee； the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy； and as thou hast forgiven this people； from Egypt even until now。
14：20耶和华说，我照着你的话赦免了他们。
And the LORD said； I have pardoned according to thy word：
14：21然我指着我的永生起誓，遍地要被我的荣耀充满。
But as truly as I live； all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD。
14：22这些人虽看见我的荣耀和我在埃及与旷野所行的神迹，仍然试探我这十次，不听从我的话，
Because all those men which have seen my glory； and my miracles； which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness； and have tempted me now these ten times； and have not hearkened to my voice；
14：23他们断不得看见我向他们的祖宗所起誓应许之地。凡藐视我的，一个也不得看见。
Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers； neither shall any of them that provoked me see it：
14：24惟独我的仆人�
